Scope*1.1 This specification covers iron-chromium and iron-chromium-nickel alloy castings for general corrosion-resistantapplication. The grades covered by this specification representtypes of alloy castings suitable for broad rang

General Conditions for Delivery3.1 Except for

10、 investment castings, castings furnished tothis specification shall conform to the requirements of Speci-fication A781/A781M, including any supplementary require-ments that are indicated on the purchase order. Failure tocomply with the general requirements of Specification A781/A781M constitutes non

11、conformance with this specification. Incase of conflict between the requirements of this specificationand Specification A781/A781M, this specification shall pre-vail.3.2 Steel investment castings furnished to this specificationshall conform to the requirements of Specification A957,including any sup

12、plementary requirements that are indicated inthe purchase order. Failure to comply with the general require-ments of Specification A957 constitutes nonconformance withthis specification. In case of conflict between the requirementsof this specification and Specification A957, SpecificationA957 shall

13、 prevail.4. 17、andards of acceptance.5. Process5.1 The steel shall be made by the electric furnace processwith or without separate refining such as argon-oxygen decar-burization (AOD).6. Heat Treatment6.1 Castings shall be heat treated in accordance with therequirements in Table 1.NOTE 2Proper heat treatment of th

18、ese alloys is usually necessary toenhance corrosion resistance and in some cases to meet mechanicalproperties. Minimum heat treat temperatures are specified; however, it issometimes necessary to heat treat at higher temperatures, hold for someminimum time at temperature and then rapidly cool the cas

19、tings in orderto enhance the corrosion resistance and meet mechanical properties.7. Repair by Welding8.1 Repair welding of Grade CA28MWV is not permittedunless by agreement between the manufacturer and the pur-chaser.8.2 When methods involving high temperature are used inthe removal of discontinuities, casti

43、ngs shall be preheated inaccordance with Table 3. Weld repairs shall be subject to thesame quality standards as are used to inspect the castings.8.3 Post weld heat treatment, if required, shall be in accor-dance with Table 1.8.3.1 The martensitic grades CA6NM, CA15, CA15M,CB6, and CA40 shall be rete

44、mpered after weld repairing,except that local tempering will be permitted if, in the opinionof the manufacturer, furnace heat treating will be damaging tothe finished surface of a machined casting. Heat treatment,other than tempering, of grades CA6NM, CA15, CA15M,CB6, and CA40 after weld repairing s

45、hall be performed onlywhen agreed upon between the manufacturer and the pur-chaser. Weld repair on Grade CA40F is not recommendedbecause of the risk of local hardening and possible cracking inthe heat affected zone.8.3.2 Post weld heat treatment is not required on the othergrades of this specificati

46、on. When post weld heat treatment isbelieved necessary for adequate corrosion resistance in theservice environment, castings should be ordered in accordancewith Specification A744/A744M.8.3.3 For Grade HG10MNN, the filler metal to be used shallbe established by mutual agreement between the manufactu

47、rerand the purchaser.9. Product Marking9.1 Castings shall be marked for material identification withthe ASTM specification number (A743/A743M) and gradeTABLE 3 Minimum Preheat TemperaturesGrade Minimum Preheat TemperaturesF CCA15, CA15M 400 205CA28MWV, CA40Others 50 10A743/A743M 13a14symbol, that is

48、, CF8, CA15, CB30, etc. In addition, themanufacturers name or identification mark and the patternnumber shall be cast or stamped using the low-stress stamps onall castings. Small-size castings may be such that marking mustbe limited consistent with the available area. The marking ofheat numbers on i

49、ndividual castings shall be agreed uponbetween the manufacturer and the purchaser. Marking shall bein such position as not to injure the usefulness of the casting.10.
