3、sheet materials that use styrene-butadiene-styrene(SBS) thermoplastic elastomer as the primary modifier and aresurfaced with a factory applied continuous metal foil. Thesematerials are intended for use in the fabrication of multiple plyroofing and waterproofing membranes and flashings.1.2 This speci
4、fication is intended as a material specificationonly. Questions regarding the suitability of the specific roofconstructions or application techniques are beyond the scope ofthis specification.1.3 The specified tests and property limits are intended toestablish minimum properties. In place roof syste

Terminology3.1 Definitions For definitions of terms used in thisspecification, refer to Terminology D1079.4. Materials and Manufacture4.1 In the process of manufacture, the fiberglass
9、reinforce-ment is impregnated and coated on both sides with a SBSmodified bituminous coating. The sheet is surfaced with acontinuous metal foil except for any selvage. The SBS modi-fied bituminous coating shall be permitted to be compoundedwith a mineral stabilizer.4.2 The metal surfacing shall be o
10、mitted on any selvage. Toprevent sticking in the roll, the reverse side and any selvageshall be permitted to be covered with a fine mineral surfacingor any other surfacing that will not interfere with adhesion orbonding of the lap during application.4.3 Foil-faced products intended for use where the
11、 applica-tion is to be by heat welding (torching) shall meet the minimumback surface coating requirement found in Table 1.5. Physical Properties5.1 The sheet material shall conform to the physical prop-erties prescribed in Table 1.5.2 The finished product shall not crack nor be so sticky asto cause

United States16. Dimensions, Mass, and Permissible Variations6.1 The width of the roll shall be as ag
15、reed between thepurchaser and the seller and shall not vary more than 61%.6.2 The area of the roll shall not be less than as agreed uponbetween the purchaser and seller.6.3 The selvage width shall be within 66.4 mm (14 in.) ofthe nominal value and shall not be less than 57 mm (2.25 in.).7. Workmansh
16、ip, Finish, and Appearance7.1 The finished product shall be completely coated in acontinuous, unbroken film and shall be free of such defects asholes, ragged or untrue edges, breaks, cracks, tears,protrusions, delaminations, and indentations.7.2 The metal surface shall be uniform in surface andtextu
17、re, that is, free from such defects as holes, breaks tears,protrusions, and indentations (except for intended factoryembossing pattern).7.3 The line of demarcation between the metal-surfacedportion of the weather side and any selvage shall be straightand parallel to the edge of the sheet.7.4 When un
18、rolled on a smooth plane, the sheet shall be flat,straight, and true so the lap will mate with the adjacent sheetwithin the tolerance of the lap without wrinkles, buckles, orfishmouths.8. Sampling and Test Methods8.1 Sample the material and determine the properties de-scribed in this specification i
19、n accordance with Test MethodD5147 unless otherwise indicated.8.2 Cyclic Thermal ShockSample and test the material inaccordance with Test Method D7051.9. Inspection9.1 InspectionInspection shall be in accordance with therequirements of this specification.9.2 Inspection AlternativesAlternative inspec
20、tion require-ments shall be determined by and as agreed upon between thepurchaser and supplier.10. Rejection and Resubmittal10.1 Failure to ConformFailure to conform to any of therequirements as stated in this specification constitutes groundsfor rejection.10.2 Rejection RedressThe supplier shall ha
21、ve the right toinspect the rejected materials. The supplier and the purchasershall agree to the quantity of rolls deemed unacceptable. Thesupplier shall then have the right to submit the same number ofnew rolls as replacement.11. Packaging and Package Marking11.1 The finished material shall be furni
22、shed as rolls. Therolls shall be securely wrapped to prevent shifting of materialand to permit normal handling. There shall be no manufactur-ing splices in the roll, and there shall be no more than twopieces.11.2 Unless otherwise agreed upon by the seller andpurchaser, each product package shall be
23、plainly marked withthe suppliers name, the product brand, the ASTM designation,the net coverage area, and the type bitumen if not evident in thelabel name of the product.12.
