SCOPE

2、The material defined by this specification is a pigmente d lacquer or enamelsuitable for first surface application to mineral or mineral/glassreinforced nylon without the aid of a primer.2. APPLICATIONThis spe cification was released originally for paint used as a firstsurface finish for exterior mi

3、neral or mineral/glass rei nforced nylon wheelcovers and ornaments.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 COMPOSITIONThe ma terial shall be an acrylic lacquer or synthetic enamelpigmented to match the desired color. The mater ial shall be properlyformulated to provide good adhesion without crazing or damaging theplasti

4、c substrate in any manner.3.2 PHYSICAL PROPERTIES3.2.1 Non-volatile Solids 40 +/- 2.0 %(FLTM BI 2-1)3.2.2 Viscosity 50 +/- 5 s(FLTM BI 11-2 or #2 Zahn Cap)3.2.3 Stability(FLTM BI 2-3)The material shall not liver or jell upon standing and mustbe free from settling which is not dispersed by normalagit

5、ation. The viscosi ty of the material shall not increasemore than 10 s.3.2.4 Hiding(FLTM BI 1-1)Solid colors shall prov ide complete opacity at 25 micrometrefilm thickness. 10、nted mineral or mineral/glass reinforced nylon panelshall exhibit no less than 50 % of the impact resistance ofan identical unpainted panel at - 29 C.Test Method: Use impact apparatus from FLTM BI 8-1, exceptthat a flat base plate with no hole is used. Maintain testapparatus and panels at - 29 C for

Rep ort impact inJ necessary to fracture both painted and control panels.3.6 RESISTANCE PROPERTIES3.6.1 Abrasion Resistance(FLTM BN 8-2)200 cycles minimum per 25 micrometre film thickness usingCS-10 wheels and 500 g load.3.6.2 Water Resistance, min 96 h(FLTM BI 4-1)Test Met hod: Immerse th

12、e panels in distilled or deionizedwater maintained at 32 +/- 1 C. Remove parts from the wateran d immediately scribe an X through the material to thesubstrate. Dry the scribed area with a paper to wel, cloth orair pressure and immediately apply, with firm th umb pressure,a minimum of 13 cm2 of ESF-M

13、3G48-A tape. Remove the tape bypulling one end at a 90 deg angle at a moderate speed. Thefollowing conditions shall be basis for rejection:. Removal of paint beyond 1.6 mm from any scribe line. Any evidence of blistering after tape removal.3.6.3 Thermal Shock Resistance No bli stering or(FLTM BI 7-5

No increase ofbrittleness or loss of adhesion is permitted and panels shallbe completely free from evidence of cracking, checking,blistering or peeling when exposed as follows:Accelerated Weathering: 400 h in Atlas XW(FLTM BO 1-1) Weatherometer3.6

18、.8 Water Resistance After WeatheringAfter panels have been subjected to either Florida orWeatherometer exposure as speci fied in para 3.6.7, they shallbe t ested for 24 h water resistance as described in para3.6.2. Peeling of the paint film in excess of 3 mm from thescribe mark shall be cause for re

19、jection. Examine forblistering. Blistering in rinse pattern obviously due to panelpreparation shall not be cause for rejection provided ad hesionis satisfactory. General blistering is considered failure.3.7 STATISTICAL PROCESSSuppli ers must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStan dar

20、d Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedther ein is required for material/source approval. 21、age 5 of 6 3.8 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYAll materials supplied to this specification must be equ ivalent in allchar acteristics to the material upon which approval was originallygranted.Prio r to making any change in the properties, composition,const ruction, color, processing or labelling of the mat

22、erialorigi nally approved under this specification, whether or not suchchanges affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequirements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxi cology and theaff ected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changes andobta in the written approval

23、 of the Materials Engineering activity.Test data , test samples and a new code identification are to besubmitted with the request.Substa nce restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply toth e materials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specif

24、ication WSS-M99P9999-A1, unlessa differ ent suffix (e.g., A2 or A3) is specified on the engineeringdocument for the application.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMaterials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineeri ng activity. Suppliers desiring approval ofth

25、eir mat erials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffecte d Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivi ty its own laboratory report to the specification (test results, notnominal values),

26、 the material designation and code number, and testspecimens for Ford evaluation. Upon approval, the material will be added tothe Engineering Material Approved Source List.5. GENERAL INFORMATIONThe materi al data included herein is for information only and is not arequirement for the supplier.5.1 FL

27、ASH POINT Below 27 C5.2 FLAMMABILITYThis m aterial represents a potential fire hazard. The ManufacturingEngineering Department shall notify both the Plant Security and theSafety Units of its presence in the Plant to assure that proper fireprecautions are provided. The location in which it is used or

28、 storedshall be included in the notifications.ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONESA-M16J2-AWP 3948-b Page 6 of 6 5.3 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY (IR), EMISSION SPECTROSCOPY (ES), ANDTHERMOGRAVIMETRIC ANALYSIS (TGA)Ford Moto r Company, at its option, may conduct IR, ES, and TGA ofmaterial/parts suppli

29、ed to this specification. The spect ra establishedfor initial approval shall constitute the reference stan dard and shallbe kept on file at designated m aterial laboratory. All samples shallproduce spectra that correspond to the referenced standa rd when testedunder the same conditions as those spec

30、ified on the master spectrum.Prepare the IR sample by scraping the cured paint from a test paneland mixi ng with infrared quality potassium bromide. Pulverize thesample with a mortar and pestle or a mechanical mixer to a homogeneouspowder and press into a pellet with a hydraulic at 11.7 MPa.
