2、so referred to herein as the “VAND System“ or “system“. The VAND system provides pneumatic testing facilities for advance underseas weapons. It is also capable of control- ling the nitrogen supply for those weapons which are to be filled with an inert gas. This specification states the requirements

3、for the procure- The VAND System is of one ty-pe and one class. (See 6.1.2. ) 2. APPLICABU DOCUMENTS 2.1 The following documents of the issue in effect on the date of invitation for bids or request for proposal form a part of this specifi- cation to the extent specified herein. C. 20360. ) 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Preprodu

11、ction samples. Unless otherwise specified in the con- tract or order, preproduction sqnples of the VAND System shall be manu- factured using the methods and procedures proposed for production. sample will be tested as specified in Section 4 and is for the purpose of determining, prior to production,

12、 that the contractors production methods are capable of yielding items that comply with the technical requirements of the contract. The 3.2 General requirements 3.2.1 Materials. Unless otherwise specified in the contract, requisi- tion, or order, all materials and purchased parts entering into the f

13、inal assembly of the VAND System shall conform strictly to the detailed requirements indicated on the drawings and specifications listed in LD 620161. 3.2.2 Finishes, coatings, construction, and dimensions. Finishes, coatings, construction, and dimensions for the VAND System shall be strictby- in ac

14、cordance with the applicable drawings, specifications, and publications listed in I;D 620161. 3.2.3 Moisture, fungus, and corrosion. The VAND Syctem shall be ren- dered moisture, fungus, and corrosion resistant in accordance with the requirements of OS 6341. 3.2.4 Marking. Marking of assemblies, sub

15、assemblies, and parts shall 3.2.5 Interchameabiiitg. With the Vacuum-Air-Nitrogen Distribution System mounted in a manner to sbmulate its service installa- tion, it shall be subjected to three blows in each of the three principal axe

17、s (see 4.4.2). all performance requirements and product characteristics of this specification. Thereafter the system shall show no damage and meet 3.4.2.2 Shock; transportation, storage, and handling. The system, after being subjected to the test specified in 4.4.2.2, shall show no damage and shall

18、meet all the requirements of Section 3. 3.4.3 Temperature and humidity. The Vacuum-Air-Nitrogen Distribution System shall be subjected to temperatures of 77 degrees F (with a humidity of up to 95 percent relative maximum), 32 degrees F, and i3i degrees F (see 4.4.3) and meet the performance requirem

19、ents and product characteristics of this spec if ication. Thereafter the system shall show no corrosion or damage 3.4.4 Tropical environment. The Vacuum-Air-Nitrogen Distribution System shall be capable of meeting all the performance requirements and product characteristics of this specification aft

20、er being subjected to the tropical environment test of 4.6.4. 3.4.5 Storage life. The Vacuum-Air-Nitrogen Distribution System shall be capable of being stored for a period of at least five years when packed in accordance with Method II of MIL-P-U under temperature and humidity conditions as follows.

21、 3.4.5.1 Temperature: 3.4.5.2 Humidity: Up to 95 percent reQtive maximum. 3.5 CleanuE. Minus 65 degrees F to plus i60 degrees F. Prior to and after final assembly all parts, components, and the assembly shall be thoroughly cleaned of loose, spattered, or excess solder, metal chips, and other foreign

QUALITY ASSWm PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection, Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the perform- ance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified, the supplier may utilize his o

26、wn facilities or any comercial laboratory acceptable to the Government. The Government re- serves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to ensure that supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.2 Classi

27、fication of insp-ections. Inspection of the VAND System shall be classified as follows: a. Preproduction inspection (paragraph 4.4) b. c. Acceptance inspection (paragraph 4.5) Periodic production inspection (paragraph 4.4) 4.3 Sampling. Unless otherwise specified, and when applicable, the sampling p

28、lans and procedures used by the Government inspector in the determination of the acceptability of products submitted by a supplier for Government inspection, shall be in accordance with the provisions set forth in ML-STD-lO5. 4.3.1 Preproduction sample. A preproduction sample of three VAND Systems m

29、anufactured in accordance with 3.2 shallbe subjected to the preproduction tests detailed in 4.4 at an activity designated by the procuring activity. Acceptance of the preproduction sample shall be based on no defects in the sample. Further production of the system by the supplier, prior to the appro

30、val of the preproduction sample, shall be at the suppliers risk. with requirements shall be cause for rejection of the sample and its resubmission, as determined by the procuring activity. . 4.3.2 Periodic production samples. From each succeeding lot or grand 10% of one hundred or less, a random sam

The VAND System shall be considered satis- Failure of 4.3.2.1 Lot size. As applied to Government inspection of units of product,

34、the term “lot“ shall mean “inspection lot“, i.e., a collection Of units of product submitted by a supplier for Government inspection. Unless otherwise specified, the nmber of units of product in “inspection lots“ will be as determined by the Government inspector and may differ from the quantity desi

35、gnated in the contract or order as a lot for pro- duction, shipment, or other purpose. 4.3.3 Acceptance sampliw. The tests and examinations detailed in 4.5 shall be conducted on each VAND System to be delivered; therefore, there shall be no sampling for acceptance. Defective units shall be rejected.

36、 4.4 Preproduction an periodic production inspection. The preproduction and periodic production samples, after satisfactorily passing the accept- ance inspections detailed in 4.5, shall be subjected to the following tests and examinations. Failure to meet any requirement specified herein shall be co

37、nsidered cause for rejection of the lot represented and units tested. 4.4.1 Vibration. The Vacuum-Air-Nitrogen Distribution System, mounted as specified in 3.4.1.1, shall be subjected to the following tests: 4.4.1.1 Test 1. The equipment shall be vibrated with a frequency varying between 10 and 33 c

38、ycles per second at a total excursion of 0.06 plus or minus 0.006 inch. The frequency shall vary uniformly from 10 to 33 cycles per second and return to 10 cycles per second in approximately one-half minute. 4.4.1.2 Test 2. The equipment shall be vibrated with a frequency varying between 10 and 55 c

39、ycles per second at a total excursion of 0.03 plus or minus 0.006 inch. “he frequency shall vary uniformly from LO to 55 cycles per second and return to 10 cycles per second in approximately one minute. NOTE: Application of vibration specified in the above two tests shall be in each of the three maj

The equipment shall then be vibrated for a period of three minute

41、s at each of the four most severe resonant frequencies at the amplitude specified above and in a plane observed to give the most severe reaction. 4.4.1.4 The equipment shall be inspected to ascertain that no fixed parts have become loose or damaged. to demonstrate that the performance required in th

42、is specification is maintained. !The equipment shall then be operated 4.4. i. 5 Vibration; translsortation. The system, packaged and packed as specified in Section 5, shall be vibration tested as specified in Weapons Requirement WR-11. 4.4.2 Shock test. The Vacuum-Air-Nitrogen Distribution System sh

43、all be tested in accordance with the following procedure: 4.4.2.1 Mount the system on a shock testing machine (NSSC Drawing LO-T-2145) as specified in 3.4.2.1, and subject it to a total of nine blows. principal axes of Panel 1874290. 45、2 Shock; transportation, storage, and handling. The system packaged and packed as specified in Section 5, shall be subjected to the appropriate shock isolation tests specified in Weapons Requirements WR-11. 4.4.3 Temperature and humidity tests. The VAND System shall be sub- jected to the following t

46、emperature and humidity tests: 4.4.3.1 With the equipment stabilized at an ambient temperature of 77 degrees F, and with a humidity of up to 95 percent relative maximum, the system shall be operated for a twenty-minute period. of this period the Vacuum-Air-Nitrogen Distribution System shall meet the

47、 performance and other requirements specified in this specification. At the conclusion 4.4.3.2 The ambient temperature of the equipment shall be lowered to 32 degrees F and sufficient time for temperature stabilization shall be allowed. At the conclusion of this period all controls shall be readily

48、manipulated and the Vacuum-Air-Nitrogen Distribution System shall meet the performance and other requirements specified in this specification. 4.4.3.3 The ambient temperature shall be raised to l3i degrees F and sufficient time for temperature stabilization shall be allowed. At the conclusion of thi

49、s period all controls shall be readily manipulated and VAND System shall meet the performance and other requirements specified in this specification.
